Kissimmee Woman's Club
Our Story
Who We Are

The Kissimmee Woman’s Club started in 1909. The wives of ranchers, farmers, and grove owners met once a month in Kissimmee. The men came to town to buy supplies and the wives and daughters met in a parlor of the Graystone Hotel. Twelve women established the club.
A building was built in honor of Mrs. Hart who was a former postmistress in Kissimmee. The building was called the Hart Memorial Chapter House and the club met there for many years. The club was quite interested in education.
In 1916, the members donated books and staffed the first public library in Kissimmee at their clubhouse. It was called the Hart Memorial Library.
In 1962, the Kissimmee Woman’s Club moved to its present site at 1616 West Oak Street. The City of Kissimmee traded the empty lots on West Oak Street for the Hart Memorial Chapter House and Library property. The club purchased additional lots and held many fundraising projects to raise money for the building. The construction fee for the clubhouse was $13,500.00.
In 1986, there were 150 members in the Kissimmee Woman’s Club and 50 members in the Kissimmee Junior Woman’s Club. The membership is smaller now, but we are always looking for women to join our club.
